Microsoft is a household brand name in the IT industry. CDG, have worked with Microsoft Ireland since it launched Windows 2000. Through this work, we can show how we accommodate large corporations complying with their brand guidelines and marketing requirements.
Microsoft first opened its doors in Ireland in 1985 with a small manufacturing facility employing just over one hundred people. Since that time, Microsoft Ireland has grown to encompass four distinct operations at its campus in Sandyford in Dublin, employing over 1,200 full time employees and 700 full-time contract staff.
Launch of Windows 2000. Released to manufacturing on December 15th 1999 and launched to retail on February 17th 2000. Successor to Windows NT 4.0, and the last version of Microsoft Windows to display the “Windows NT” designation. The challenge was at the turn of the millennium to bring to life the new generation of windows users. CDG were asked to design and produce a web experience for the Launch In The Point Depot and invite 1000’s of people. We were responsible for online and offline activities to help develop their Digital Branding for Windows 2000.
The solution was to incorporate the Windows brand identity into everything possible for the launch. The Launch took place in the Point Depot in Dublin City Centre and was incorporated into a love theme around Valentine’s Day February 14th. All visitors could go online and login to redeem their entry ticket to see the live demonstration. Identity scanning and other technologies allowed the attendee to enter the event using automated web services and follow through after the event to download their new windows OS for free. CDG were involved in strategy, design and all collateral and online web app.
